Centra, an award winning regional healthcare and teaching system in Central Virginia, is recruiting faculty for our Family Medicine Residency Program. We are seeking a MD/DO board certified in Family Medicine with a CAQ in primary care sports medicine. The successful candidate will possess superior clinical and interpersonal skills, and a passion for teaching. Current fellows will also be considered for this role.
In this role, you’ll serve as a full-time faculty member in an established 7-7-7 residency program with an excellent faculty-to-resident ratio and plans for expansion. The work schedule includes a combination of 40% resident clinical supervision, 30% direct clinical care, and 30% administration of resident education. Residency faculty maintain clinical appointments with University of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Liberty University School of Osteopathic Medicine. The primary outpatient clinic is a 28,000 sq. ft. freestanding facility, specifically designed for the residency program, with wireless EMR, ultrasound and x-ray onsite. The residency program provides sports medicine coverage for the Lynchburg Hillcats (minor league baseball) and Sweet Briar College (Women’s NCAA Division III), as well as medical coverage for the Virginia 10-Miler.
An attractive position is even more appealing in an attractive community. Lynchburg, Virginia, is a thriving, 200-year-old city with a growing metro area of more than 150,000. It’s big enough to offer amenities such as convenient air and rail service, yet small enough to be free of gridlock and urban crime rates. (In fact, it’s been named one of the Top 10 Safest Mid-Sized Cities by Sperling’s Best Places.)
Lynchburg is conveniently located in the heart of the state, just three hours from Washington, D.C. and coastal beaches, and only minutes from lakefront communities, mountaintop trails, and ski slopes. The Lynchburg area also offers an extraordinary range of housing options, a vibrant arts community, and some of the mildest weather on the east coast.
The region is home to 6 colleges & universities, an acclaimed public school system, plus a range of private K-12 schools (including the largest private school in the state).
Among the many accolades the Lynchburg area has earned:
