Under general supervision of the Technical Manager and or Operations Manager, incumbent reviews and revises exam protocols and monitors standards and processes of vascular ultrasound imaging in alignment with ACR accreditation standards; communicates with and trains imaging staff on all equipment; ensure ACR accreditation standards are adhered to within MGH Imaging Ultrasound division.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructs and presents training to staff for all vascular exams, ensuring consistent quality: Carotid, RAS, Hemodialyis graft, reflux, Venous and arterial extremity exams.
Ensure staff competency pertaining to exam performance and equipment usage.
Implements use of “scan assistant on appropriate equipment.
Liaison and contact for vascular radiologists.
Assist management with lab accreditation.
Review daily schedule and compile vascular exam list
Confer with coordinator and or resource tech to schedule patients into appropriate resources.
Check staff schedule for room assignments.
Check board for daily vascular radiologist coverage/check in with vasc rad throughout the day.
Serve as a resource for all questions related to vascular exams.
Assist with training vascular exams.
Scan patients-as needed for efficient patient throughput.
Inform management of patient issues/need for service recovery.
Review vascular exams scheduled for the next day to ensure the proper exam is ordered correctly.
All vascular exams are of diagnostic quality.
Exam protocols are followed ensuring standardization amongst all staff.
Scan assistant implementation for all applicable exams.
Vendor electronic report used on all exams.
All information is complete and available to vascular radiologist (completed in RIS, PACS).
Patient exams are priority-awareness of exam delays.
Interacts professionally with all-patients, co-workers, physicians.
Facilitates team harmony.
Over communicates to patients, co-workers, physicians-offering all the needed information.
Contribute to the strategy and policy making relating to Quality Control and Quality Assurance of Vascular Ultrasound.
Seek professional development opportunities through ongoing learning, as provided by the hospital or elsewhere.
Develop and provide training courses to staff on vascular imaging.
Develop a measurable vascular quality assurance program.
Perform staff technologist duties, as required.
Thorough understanding of ultrasound physics and hemodynamics.
