WORK TYPE: PART TIME 0.6 FTE (48 Hours Bi-Weekly)
The Vascular Lab Technologist is a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer that must be qualified by professional credentialing and academic and clinical experience to provide diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures. Performs diagnostic tests on patients and assists in reporting results.
Works under the general supervision of the Manager of Vascular Services and oversight by the Lead Vascular Lab Technologist.
The scope of practice of the Vascular Laboratory Technologist includes those procedures, acts and processes permitted by law, for which the individual has received education and clinical experience, has demonstrated competency, and obtains ARDMS certification as a vascular technologist (RVT), which is the standard of practice in diagnostic ultrasound. Performs duties to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patient satisfaction. Meets the qualifications to provide care to patients in the age range of 0-100 years of age.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Education prerequisites must satisfy the ARDMS eligibility standards to become a Registered Vascular Technologist. Generally, Registry eligibility includes either prior training and experience, or completion of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or Vascular Technology Program.
Active certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in the vascular technology specialty (RVT) is required. Certification in echocardiography sonography is preferred.
The employee is responsible for Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements for the Registered Vascular Technology specialty (RVT).
Minimum of one year experience in Vascular Technology is preferred. Minimum of six months on the job to become familiar with all duties is required.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is performed in a clinical and hospital environment.
The employee must be able to move diagnostic equipment on wheels; stand, sit and lift to perform basic job assignments; and assist patients with ambulation. The employee will be required to respond to requests during assigned on call within the time determined by department management. Some travel may be required for off-site testing.”
