JOB TITLE: Simulation Lab Technician- Coordinator LOCATION: Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine Scranton Campus DEPARTMENT: Simulation Center WORK SCHEDULE: Days WORK TYPE: Full Time JOB SUMMARY: This position supports the identification and use of technology in the Clinical Skills and Simulation Center (CSSC) including ultrasound and virtual reality technology, in educational exercises and evaluation methods in the CSSC, including the Objective Structured Clinical Examinations(OSCEs) and Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs). This position is required to conduct business in a professional and cordial manner that will uphold the integrity and reputation of Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine (GCSoM). This position maintains a thorough working knowledge of and adheres to the policies, regulations, and procedures of (GCSOM). ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Uses and operates different simulator technologies ranging from anatomic models and task trainers to screen based simulators, full body human patient simulators, ultrasound and virtual reality simulators. 2. Assists with training of Standardized Patients and the implementation and quality control of clinical skills assessments. 3. Assists with the administration of clinical skills sessions. 4. Assists with the programming of the Educational Management System for simulations and clinical skills assessments, including the OSCEs and the EPAs 5. Assists with quality control in the CSSC activities including the OSCEs and EPAs 6. Participates in the planning, development and implementation of scenarios or other curricular activities including those that integrate ultrasound training into the curriculum. OTHER DUTIES • Perform other related duties as required SUPERVISION RECEIVED • Supervision is received from the Manager of Simulation Education and Operations EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: • Bachelors’ degree in health care, education or a related field; masters’ degree preferred • Experience with simulation technology preferred • Experience in higher education and dealing with students and faculty preferred. • Demonstrated knowledge of education principles; simulation, computer knowledge and computer-based education. LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS None TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: • Use of Simulator Technologies • Use of Clinical Skills & Simulation Center computer and audio/visual system and Educational Management System • Use of various office equipment, i.e., copier, fax, shredder, printer, etc. WORK-RELATED KNOWLEDGE • Demonstrated knowledge of education principles; simulation, computer knowledge and computer-based education.
