About the Role:
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Imaging, manages system wide accreditation, protocol, policies, equipment selection, training and orientation of staff within modality. Assures open communication between staff members, physicians, management regarding daily operation of Imaging Services within their individual Modality line which includes Nuclear Medicine, CT, Ultrasound, MRI and Mammography. Assumes responsibility for designated areas of Imaging as required. The scope of care includes age groups ranging from newborn to elderly. The modality manager supports the efforts of the lead technologist and provides assistance to the Imaging Management team as needed. This is a working manager who works under general direction.
Minimum Job Qualifications
Licensure or other certifications: License or certification in area of specialty: Mammography - ARRT licensure; MRI - ARRT licensure; CT - ARRT licensure; Ultrasound - ARRT licensure or ARDMS certification
Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or GED. Graduate of accredited ARRT or ARDMS program.
Minimum Experience: F 3-5 years supervisor and/or management experience required in a competitive imaging environment or experience in a private practice environment with outpatient imaging services. Heavy emphasis on imaging operations to include the reduction in patient wait times, no show patients, report turnaround, physician requests and smooth operations a must.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
Provides managerial oversight and effective leadership by assuring staffing plans meet patient care needs, staff training & education, equipment functioning, maintained new technology initiatives are implemented. This person will need to work closely with the NGHS Hospital Manager to assure consistency in process, policy and procedure.
Assures orientation is complete for new Imaging techs.
Open communication with all Imaging supervisors, Lead Techs, managers and physicians to ensure exceptional customer service is provided to patients.
Serves as a liaison with nursing units (ER, OR, SSS) on continual basis to meet needs of those areas as needed.
Help resolve customer/patient/staff conflicts, complaints and concerns.
Works with Lead Tech to complete designated employee evaluations and submit to Hospital Manager.
Supervise image quality for all modalities to ensure quality consistency within modality standards.
Operates PACS/RIS system. Diagnose and troubleshoot routine errors.
Assures staff follow appropriate contrast protocols.
Assures staff follow good radiation safety practices as outlines as outlined by image gently and image wisely protocols, i.e. coning.
Monitor RIS continuously for outstanding or incomplete orders in modalities, evaluate folder list and assist each modality in obtaining necessary files and assure prompt handling of "call reports", "send films", "stat reads", etc.
Ensures staff using proper assessment of patients according to exam ordered with appropriate documentation (i.e. check order, review previous films, check lab values where indicated, prep, screen for possible pregnancy, appropriate history, involving Imaging nurse when indicated). Ensure that patient records are maintained according to department standards.
Provide education and training to staff as required.
Works with Lead Techs to ensure productivity standards are being met.
Performs annual employee clinical competency assessments and evaluations on assigned staff within modality.
Provides input to coaching and monitoring performance for employees in the disciplinary process.
Search for recommendations from staff on ways to improve systems and processes.
Ensures that staff are clinically trained in all exams and provides audit documentation.
Assure compliance with daily requirements for ACR, MQSA and FDA accreditation for Mammography and ACR accreditation for MRI,US and CT.
Develops and provides cost reduction ideas and opportunities.
Develops clinical education projects to present to the staff.
Maintains flexibility with staffing when the need arises.
Department Specific Functions: Staffing plans, workload management, huddles, equipment uptime/downtime, ISO compliance, Safety issues, new technology, auditing and consistency of practice across all shifts.
