What will you be doing:
The Cardiac Sonographer Level I, supports patient care by performing echocardiogram procedures as directed by the physician. Demonstrates proficiency with the use of ultrasound equipment and associated procedures. This position performs routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians and other health practitioners running smoothly.
Uses appropriate techniques with ultrasound equipment to supply diagnostic studies based upon physician request.
Performs a variety of technical procedures to support physician?s diagnosis.
Responsible for providing high quality imaging.
Appropriately acquire echocardiographic measurements per protocol, create digital preliminary reports for the interpreting physician, and verbally communicate preliminary findings to the interpreting physician.
Reviews physician order to verify appropriateness for order being performed.
Retrieve studies from PACS for review.
Follow standardize work practices.
Perform appropriate infection control processes.
Provide an environment of care that supports patient safety.
Addresses patient educational needs as pertains to requested studies.
Prepare patients for the study.
Supports IAC Standards and Guidelines.
Assures accuracy data for clinical reports, demographics and billing information for physician reports.
Support team approach and service focus work with colleagues in a "team approach" to encourage a positive and service-oriented image for the department.
Qualifications
Experience Requirements:
One (1) plus years? experience as an Ultrasound (Cardio Sonographer) Technician in a clinical setting (preferred).
Educational/Certification/License Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED.
Vocational/Technical Diploma (Ultrasound Program) from a CAAHEP.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
