Perform echocardiograms per protocol |
Provide patient and family education |
Expand scope of examination according to any abnormalities observed or suspected. |
Notify appropriate licensed personnel when patient complains of pain. |
Enter patient identification information into the ultrasound unit. |
Obtain patient clinical information from the patient, medical record and physician to verify indications for echocardiography. |
Select the appropriate transducer and machine settings for optimal visualization and evaluation of structures. |
Position patient to optimally visualize cardiac structures. |
Assist the physician with transesophageal echocardiography, stress echocardiograms and pericardiocentesis procedures. Perform peripheral vascular ultrasound as competency allows. |
Maintains records of all procedures performed, sends reports to requesting physicians and archives patient examinations. |
Operate equipment safely and correctly. Inspect ultrasound equipment daily to ensure it is operating effectively. Reports any malfunctions. |
Clean exam rooms and equipment between patients and at the end of the day. |
Treat patients and families with respect and dignity. |
Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. |
Demonstrates the ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines, to be accurate, and to handle constantly changing situations. |
