Certified Nurse Midwife
Responsibilities
Mayo Clinic midwifery care is growing in New Prague, Minnesota! Do you want to practice at the top of your license as a community health midwife? Come work with a preeminent team of midwives in a world-renowned hospital system with a commitment to innovation! Mayo Clinic Health System (MCHS) New Prague is adding a new midwifery team to their maternity care model. We are seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife to join a three-member midwifery team with support from Obstetrician Hospitalists and nurse practitioners in a team-based approach to maternal and women’s health care.
The Mayo Clinic midwives in New Prague enjoy all the benefits of full scope midwifery in a supportive community hospital setting. Join a collaborative team in the Southwest Minnesota region working to provide the highest standard of care based on Mayo Clinic values. Mayo Clinic midwives provide antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care along with well woman gynecologic care in the clinic setting. Labor and birth care is provided by the midwifery group with the assistance of the obstetrician when needed. Midwives provide prenatal care through an innovative OB nest model that combines telehealth and hands-on provider care to reduce on-site visits and expand access to prenatal services based on patient preference. As a unit, obstetrics team members assist in the delivery of more than 120-250 babies each year.
The Certified Nurse Midwives at Mayo Clinic provide a full range of healthcare services for women, including primary care, fertility, gynecologic and family planning services, preconception care, care during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period, and treatment of male partners for sexually transmitted infections. CNMs place IUDs and Nexplanons as well as provide first assistant surgical support for cesarean births. Mayo Clinic Midwives have the opportunity to collaborate with their midwifery colleagues in Mankato, Rochester, and the Mayo Clinic health system at large as well as take shifts at other campus sites to gain additional clinical experience.
The vision for the Certified Nurse Midwives at Mayo Clinic is to provide the best midwifery care in the world by modeling evidence-based midwifery in a team-based approach to care. Midwives at Mayo Clinic believe that every patient deserves a midwife as part of their care and strive to support their patients in a holistic, whole person way while working with the first-class medical care that is available in the Mayo enterprise.
CNMs are eligible for faculty status through the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science and have the opportunity to provide didactic and clinical teaching to learners throughout their educational program. Mayo Clinic focuses on clinical excellence, academic teaching, and research projects that further the advancement of midwifery. Midwives have the opportunity to participate in all that Mayo Clinic has to offer as a valued provider among the team.
