You are the science behind the medicine and
no puzzle is complete without every single piece
You can never finish the big picture if even one detail is missing or out of place. You've always loved puzzles, each piece unique and essential. If you enjoy using your technical and analytical abilities to solve clinical puzzles, you will thrive working in our fast-paced Chemistry Unit of the laboratory. Here, we are open to different perspectives to create better patient outcomes. As a passionate laboratory professional, you will support our department as you share your ideas and help make an impact to improve patient outcomes and operational processes for our diverse patient population.
Having a knack for science, you will conduct moderate to high complexity tests on clinical specimens in various areas of the hospital core laboratory, including hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, immunology, and chemistry. You’ll also perform quality control on all tests, follow-up on out-of-range results and relay critical values to appropriate teams and utilize LIS to document patient results.
Ideally, you should:
- Have a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences or one of the physical sciences – Biology, Chemistry
- Preferably possess 2+ years’ clinical laboratory experience in a hospital or high-level research setting; however, we will train the right person, and new graduates are welcome
- Be a current NYS Licensed Laboratory Technologist; ASCP (MT or MLS) and knowledge of LIS preferred
